Moms Talk: How Do You Keep Sporty Kids On Track?
How do parents and their children achieve a good balance between sports, academics and all of the other important areas of life?

There used to be basic middle and high school sports offered as an extracurricular activity to students, but today there are dozens: baseball, tennis, soccer, football, volleyball, track, cross-country, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, wrestling, golf, field hockey, lacrosse, ice hockey, sailing and cheerleading.
I'm sure I inadvertently forgot some; however, you get the idea.
This week's edition of Moms Talk focuses on sports and how to find a good balance for both parents and children who play.

This week's question: Sports—How much is too much? How do parents and children reach a good balance to accommodate life outside of sports?
One of our Moms' Council members, Kimberly Lutes, brought this topic to Patch. Lutes is the mother of two boys, 10 and 5, who are active in Neighborhood Club sports. Her older son will start playing little league baseball in the spring.
This isn't the first time the topic has been broached, but there are certainly Pointers who have achieved the balance it takes to participate in sports, school and other areas of life. Share your tips to success.
