Police Blotter: 3 Cars Towed from 2 Crashes

were called to the scene of two vehicle crashes this week.

In the first, Grosse Pointe Shores police issued a failure to yield citation to a 16-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman April 5 after she pulled into the path of another motorist on Lake Shore Drive. The woman was using a turnaround at Willison Road and crashed into the vehicle of a 30-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman about 6:45 a.m. The teen was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and the other vehicle, a 2011 Ford Taurus, was towed from the scene. No one was injured in the crash but the Taurus was not drivable from the scene, according to a report.

Grosse Pointe Shores police were called to a three-car crash on Vernier Road at Lake Shore this week. An investigation revealed a 52-year-old Warren man failed to stop for the red light and rear-ended the motorist in front of him. The impact from that crash pushed the car he struck into the car in front of him. No injuries were reported and police did not issue a citation but noted the crash and the drivers. Two of the vehicles were towed from the crash as they were not drivable, according to a report.

BB Gun Damages Window

A Fairford Road resident reported to Grosse Pointe Shores police that his son's bedroom window was struck by a bb gun after he found damage to the window April 2. The bb went through a window but not the screen into the bedroom. The resident wanted the damage documented for insurance purposes and said the damage was not there the day before, according to a report.

Woods Resident Receives Ride Home

Grosse Pointe Shores police drove a 77-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods resident home March 31 after she was spotted driving the wrong way down Lake Shore Road. A responding officer found two cars stopped on Lake Shore Road after the report about the driving came in. When the officer approached, the woman was upset and crying. She explained to the officer she was driving home from an event but doesn't really drive at night. She said she got lost. The officer drove her home as she was too upset to drive after her car was parked on a side street and secured. When they arrived to her home, they contacted the woman's son, who was informed about what happened and where the woman's car was parked, according to a report.

Traffic Stop Ends in Marijuana Arrest

Grosse Pointe Shores police arrested a 49-year-old Royal Oak woman March 31 following a traffic stop for possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. Police took three marijuana joints and four identification cards into evidence. One of the cards was a fugitive recovery agent card, which is generally for a bounty hunter. The identifications belong to another man. She was stopped on Lake Shore Road near Vernier for weaving in and out of lanes. The officer smelled marijuana and searched the car to find the joints, according to a report.

Silverware Worth $7,000 Reported Missing

Grosse Pointe Shores police are investigating a missing set of silverware valued at $7,000 reported by a 61-year-old Grosse Pointe Farms man. The silverware belongs to a resident of the Shores and was last seen in the house March 28. Police do not believe this was a home invasion and believe it was taken by someone known to the resident.
