A pair of schools were put on lockdown Thursday morning when a man fled Michigan State Police and escaped into Harper Woods.
Poupard Elementary, part of the Grosse Pointe Schools district, and Harper Woods High School, part of the Harper Woods School District, were briefly put on lockdown as officers searched for the man who fled the scene after hitting a SMART bus at Harper and Vernor, according to a report in the Detroit News.
MSP considered the traffic incident to be a minor traffic violation, but once the suspect fled, the incident became more serious and the schools were put on lockdown as a precaution.
