Repairs to Water Main Break Nearly Complete

Moross Road at Mack Avenue has been blocked by officials working to repair a water main that broke late Thursday. The repairs are expected to be complete by the close of business Friday barring any unforeseen complications employees encounter, Assistant City Manager Matt Tepper said Friday afternoon.

The break likely caused water to have a brown tint to it for many residents in the area but as long as the faucet is turned on with running water until the water runs clear, cold water is safe for drinking, according to the alert sent out by officials late Thursday.

During the repair work Friday, a mismarked gas line was hit and DTE officials had to be called to the scene, Tepper said. The gas line was repaired fairly quickly and allowed Farms officials to return to the task at hand, repairing the water main, Tepper said.

Service to residents has gone uninterrupted with the exception of needing to run the water longer to rid it of the brownish tint, Tepper said.
