Resident Makes Request of Grosse Pointe Shores Council

A Grosse Pointe Shores resident wrote a letter to the council seeking all public meetings to be televised with decent sound quality.

Dear Esteemed Members of Council:

I am writing to express my concern about the broadcasts of your monthly meetings. Initially, the quality of the broadcasts was quite poor - especially the sound quality.

The December broadcast was clear in sound and picture quality.  Despite the fact that I was  unable to find the January meeting  at its advertised broadcast time when I did, it too was very understandable.

The March meeting was entirely unintelligible. I tried to view it on two different televisions and two different broadcast times with no improvement which leads me to the conclusion that somehow the improvements that were made to the quality of the broadcasts of earlier in this year have somehow been lost.

I ask that you look into this simple matter.  I believe if you compare the quality of the meetings earlier this year with the March meeting you will understand.
I am certainly hoping that the desire of some of you to await a "quality broadcast" as a justification to vote down the proposal to  broadcast  the Committee of the Whole meetings is not becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy with the monthly broadcasts.

I urge you to do more than pay lip service to transparency especially in these challenging times. I would also urge you to broadcast each and every budget planning meeting and hearing and that your advertise the times of the broadcasts daily.

I want to hear the same sound quality for these important meetings as the music that accompanies the ads for the times of the post offices.

Sincerely,
Chris Kaczanowski
