Whiz Kid: Spelling Bee Champ

Name: Jack Sheeren

• Accomplishment: Jack is a two-time spelling bee winner at the Academy and this year he advanced to Detroit New Spelling Bee, where he placed in the top 10. His goal is to make it to the Scripps National Spelling Bee next year in Washington, D.C.
• Key to Success: "Jack is an excellent student at the Academy and represents many of the ideals held high here of citizenship, character and scholarship," said Mary Anne Brush, spokeswoman for the Academy.

Every Wednesday a child in the Grosse Pointes will be recognized for his or her achievements and identified as the Grosse Pointe Patch Whiz Kid.
