Whiz Kid: Student Musician Plays for Obama
Grosse Pointe North student musician Myles-Amir Harlan traveled to the White House in February as part of select youth group.

- Accomplishment: Myles was one of 10 kids from across the country to travel to Washington D.C. and perform for President Barack O'Bama as part of the White House music series, The Sound of Young America The History of Motown.
- Key to Success: Myles was recognized by Superintendent C. Suzanne Klein Monday for his performance at the White House. She noted Myles is the first student from the district to ever be selected for this performance opportunity. Many famous performers, according to the White House website, led a conference for the youth on the history of Motown during Myles visit in February.
Every Wednesday a child in the Grosse Pointes will be recognized for his or her achievements and identified as the Grosse Pointe Patch Whiz Kid.
