Car Break-ins Reported at 3 Novi Hotels

The following information was provided by the Novi Police Department.

Three cars were broken into at three different hotels in Novi during the night of Dec. 17-18, according to Novi police reports.

At the DoubleTree Hotel on Crescent Boulevard, an employee reported that his Chrysler 200 was broken into while it was parked in the northeast corner of the lot. When he left work at 8 a.m., he found that someone had smashed the rear driver's side window and stolen the stereo/navigation system from the dashboard, the report said. Police checked the outside of the car and found prints that indicated the subjects were wearing gloves, the report said.

A woman staying at the Sheraton on Haggerty Road also reported that her Chrysler 200 was broken into the night of Dec. 17-18, according to a police report. The woman returned to her car at 10 a.m. to find the rear passenger window smashed out and the stereo/navigation system stolen from the dashboard, the report said. There are no suspects, the report said.

Two people staying at the Crowne Plaza off Novi Road near the DoubleTree Hotel reported their Cadillac Escalade was broken into that same night, according to a police report. The two returned to their car at 8:30 a.m. to find the rear passenger side window smashed and their two laptops, two briefcases and iPad stolen, the report said.

The police officer then checked other hotels for any other break-ins but did not find any. The officer also requested extra patrols for hotels, the report said.
