Crime Report: Cars Broken Into at Life Time Fitness, Holiday Decorations Vandalized

Two incidents of larceny were reported at on Nov. 10.
One woman reported to Novi Police that her purse was stolen from her vehicle while parked in the north lot sometime between 8:30-10 a.m., according to a police report. She left her purse on the floor in the rear seat area, but had taken her wallet inside with her, the report said. When she returned, she placed her key into the ignition, and her car alerted her that a theft attempt had been made, the report said. Upon inspecting the car, the police found that a small dent and hole was made under the driver’s door handle to unlock the car, the report said.
Another woman arrived in the parking lot at 9:20 a.m. and said she saw a man standing near passenger side of vehicle while another subject was all the way in the vehicle with his feet hanging out, the report said. The woman thought it looked suspicious and alerted the front desk at Life Time, the report said. A supervisor went outside to check out the lot, but did not see anything, the report said.

Right after the police left Life Time, the officer was called back on another complaint. Another woman had reported that her purse was stolen from her Chrysler Town & Country while it was parked in the south lot of Life Time sometime between 9:40-10:50 a.m., according to a police report. She had left her purse inside the car between the front seats and under a jacket, the report said. When she returned, she found that someone had gone into her purse and removed her wallet. The wallet was still in the car, but $50 and her credit card were taken, the report said. According to the report, the method of entry into the van was a small punch or ice pick that had penetrated the door under the driver’s door handle.
Items stolen from men's locker room at Bally Fitness
Two men reported items stolen out of their lockers in the men’s locker room at on Nov. 9, according a police report. One man reported that his wallet with his credit card was stolen while he was working out between 5:45 p.m. and 7 pm. And that the lock was missing from his locker, the report said. Another man reported that everything was taken from his locker while he was working out between 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., including his clothes, wallet and car key, the report said. The padlock had also been removed from the locker, the report said.Â

Holiday decorations vandalized
A woman reported that the Christmas lights on her house on Chase Drive were vandalized, according to a police report. The woman said the lights were installed professionally on Nov. 5 and she first noticed the damage the afternoon of Nov. 8 when she was cleaning up a smashed pumpkin in front of her house and found smashed light bulbs in the roadway, the report said. Her neighbor said someone rang her doorbell at 2 a.m., but nobody was there and the pumpkin from her front porch was missing, the report said. The woman discovered that all the plugs on her Christmas lights were damaged and all of the bulbs were missing, the report said.Â
A woman on Galway Drive reported that someone threw a pumpkin at her mailbox sometime between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Nov. 7, according to a police report. The woman estimates that it caused $150 in damage to her metal mailbox.
Gasoline stolen from car
A woman reported that 10 gallons of gasoline were stolen from her Ford vehicle sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. on Nov. 9, according to a police report. Her vehicle was parked in front of her residence on Bayview Drive.
