Crime Report: Woman Arrested on Retail Fraud Charges, Credit Card Fraud at Target

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

A woman from Redford Township was arrested on charges of third-degree retail fraud at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 15, according to a police report. The woman was shopping in in West Oaks when a loss-prevention agent saw her select several items and bring them into the fitting room, where she removed the tags, the report said. The woman then made a return and left without paying for two items, the report said.

Credit card fraudulently charged at Target

A man reported that someone illegally used his credit card at at 3 p.m. Nov. 19, according to a police report. The man who owned the card found out about the fraudulent charge when he attempted to use his debit card and it was declined, the report said. He then made a call to his bank, and an bank employee told him that a flag was put on his card for suspicious activity; a charge of $773 was made at Target, the report said.

According to the police report, the suspect only had the man’s bank card number but not his card. The man said he did not allow anyone else to use his card, the report said.

Property stolen from cars

A purse was stolen out of a vehicle in the parking lot at 9 p.m. Nov. 16, according to a police report. A woman left her car unlocked when she went back into the store to retrieve a grocery bag she forgot, and when she returned, her purse was gone, the report said.

A radar detector was stolen from a GMC Ukon in the driveway of a residence on Clermont sometime during the night of Nov. 19, according to a police report. The complainant said his father’s Dodge Dakota pickup, which was parked in the driveway, was also broken into, the report said. According the report, the suspect unsuccessfully tried to steal the stereo from the truck.
