Here's a list of ways to celebrate the season!

Santa Events

Take photos with Santa

  • Info: Say cheese! Bring your children to get their photo with Santa at the Ice Palace.
  • When: Every day now through Dec. 24 during mall hours (generally 10 a.m.-9 p.m.). Breaks are from 12:30-1 p.m. and 5:30-6 p.m. on Mondays-Saturdays. Break on Sundays are 1-1:30 p.m. 
  • Where: In the center of
  • Pricing: Photo packages range from $20-$55

Have breakfast with Santa

  • Info: Enjoy a plated breakfast with children's entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus. Call 877-556-2297 to reserve a place.
  • When: Saturdays, Dec. 10 and 17 or Sundays, Dec. 11 and 18 at 9 a.m.
  • Where: in Twelve Oaks Mall
  • Pricing: Tickets are $16.95 per person and $12.95 for children younger than 10.

Get a photo of your pet with Santa

  • Info: Bring your dog or cat to get a photo with Santa Claus. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier and up-to-date on all shots. Space is limited; call 248-348-9438 to reserve a spot.

Skate with Santa

  • Info: Ice skate with Santa while listening to holiday tunes.
  • When: Sunday, Dec. 18 from 3-4:50 p.m.

  • Pricing: $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents. Skate rental is $3.

Family Events

Northville Holiday Lighted Parade

  • Info: Northville's annual holiday parade includes lights, bands, floats, dancers and, of course, Santa. This year's parade theme is "Holidays Around the World."
  • When: Friday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Northville 
  • Pricing: Free

Light Up the Night

  • Info: Novi's annual holiday celebration is full of indoor and outdoor events, including holiday tree lighting, seasonal entertainment, children's activities, ice carving demonstrations, marshmallow roasting, light refreshments, a craft show and a visit from Santa.
  • When: Friday, Dec. 2 from 6-9 p.m. Holiday tree lighting is at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Pricing: Free. Unwrapped toys and clothes will be accepted at the door to be donated to families in Oakland County.

Youth Events

Winter Craftiness

  • Info: The library invites youth in grades seven to 12 to get into the holiday spirit with winter snacks, snowflake cutting and gift making. Registration is required, which you can complete online.
  • When: Friday, Dec. 2 from 3:45-4:30 p.m.

  • Pricing: Free

Winter Holiday Movie

  • Info: The library invites youth to watch the movie Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, rated PG.
  • When: Thursday, Dec. 22 from 1-3 p.m.

Adult Events

Holiday Craft Extravaganza

  • Info: Go shopping for the holidays in this selection of hundreds of items, such as jewelry, pottery, paintings and textiles.
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Pricing: Free, parking is $5

German Holiday Baking

  • Info: Learn to make some traditional, German holiday cooking favorites at this hands-on class with instructor and local chef Ina Cheatem, a native German. A $10 material fee is payable to instructor on first day of class.
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Room 328
  • Pricing: $50 for residents and $55 for non-residents

Holiday Welcome Plaque Workshop

  • Info: Learn to make a holiday plaque using the crackle painting technique with decorative painting taught step-by-step by Donna Roskamp. Ages 14 and older can attend. A $10 material fee is payable to instructor at class.
  • When: Monday, Dec. 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Where: Art Room
  • Pricing: $23 for residents and $28 for non-residents

Holiday Road Rally

  • Info: Teams of 4-6 members can compete in this event in which you must drive around Novi to take photos of predetermined "wild and crazy" items to earn points. Each team must bring its own digital camera. Extra points are given to teams that dress in holiday attire. The event ends with appetizers at a local restaurant, and prizes are given to the top teams.
  • When: Friday, Dec. 16 from 6-10 p.m.

  • Pricing: $100 per team

Senior Events

Gobble Gobble Gala

  • Info: Seniors ages 55 and older are invited to share a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings. Selections from the Senior Show, Vaudeville to Video, will be performed.
  • When: Thursday, Nov. 17 from 12-2 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Pricing: $7 for residents and $8.50 for non-residents

Spirit of the Holidays

  • Info: Seniors ages 55 and older are invited to get into the holiday spirit with a luncheon and holiday sing-along.
  • When: Thursday, Dec. 15 from 12-2 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Pricing: $7 for residents and $8.50 for non-residents
