Novi Patch: Can you tell me about your latest book, Safe in His Arms?
Dana Corbit: It’s kind of that concept about who’s more valuable in God’s eyes. We as people put value on people based on who they are and what they’ve given to society — who are we to judge? You know. To God, we are all of value. The story is about a girl who was in a car accident with her sister and the police officer comes in and pulls her from the accident, but he’s unable to save her sister at the same time. Her sister dies, and she feels that he saved the wrong sister. And she’s one of those sisters who’s kind of grown up in the shadow of her more high-achieving sister and her sister is also a mother, so it’s one of those things where she has to learn that she is worthy. And I guess the whole concept of the story is that we are all worthy to be loved. We’re all worthy of being the person that someone saves first.

Novi Patch: So where do you get your ideas for you books?
Corbit: I’d say most of my ideas come from dreams 'cause that’s the only time you’re really free to think of anything.
Novi Patch: What do you hope people get from your novels?
Corbit: Every author kind of has a tagline for their work – mine is stories of hope. I just want to give people hope and give them an escape that you know that things are going to be OK. There are some authors who feel as if they’re writing as a ministry, and I really want people to feel comfortable in their own faith – their own faith, not necessarily mine – and to know that good things can happen in the world.
Novi Patch: What’s your favorite part about Novi?
Corbit: I like the community feel. I like that there are bike paths around where we can get from place to place, and I like that everybody seems to know everybody.
