Thornton Creek Student Wins Third Place in Hansons Jingle Contest

Isabella Kucharczyk won more than $2,000 in prizes for her video.

Isabella Kucharczyk, a fourth grade student from Novi, was named the third place winner in the 1-800-HANSONS “Sing-a-Jing” contest.

The contest asked Michigan and Ohio children in kindergarten through eighth grade to sing the company’s popular “Get it Done” jingle on video and submit it online for voting.

For coming in third, Kucharczyk won a $1,000 savings bond and a $200 gift card. She also wins $1,000 to be given to her school, .

The first place winner, fifth-grader Sarah Nelson from Commerce Township, won a $5,000 college savings bond, $2,500 for her school, and a $500 Toys R Us gift card. The second place winner, second-grader Destiny Beard from Southfield, won a $2,000 savings bond, $1,500 for her school, and $300 gift card.

Hansons, a home improvement company, hosts the contest as a way of giving back to the community, said company founder and president Brian Elias in a press release.

“It’s not about finding the best singers, like American Idol,” Elias said. “It’s about engaging our communities and giving kids another outlet to have some fun and get creative, while also providing healthy competition.”

Elias said that he was “blown away” by the creativity and effort put into many of the more than 100 videos submitted.
