Novi Welcomes Mayor Bob Gatt, City Council Members
The four elected officials were sworn into office Monday.
Mayor and Novi City Council members , and were officially sworn into office Monday night before the City Council meeting in .
The four were in the Nov. 8 election. Staudt and Wrobel were re-elected, while Casey is serving her first four-year term.
Gatt, 61, said it feels great to officially be mayor, which he will serve for a two-year term.

Gatt served as a Novi Police officer for 27 years and now works as the chief of field operations for Oakland County Community Corrections. He has served on the City Council since 2003.
"I look forward to doing the work of the people, and we have a great council here that is dedicated to doing the work of the people," he said.

A reception was held beforehand in the Atrium for members of the community to welcome the new mayor and council members before the City Council meeting at 7 p.m.
Gatt had an easy first meeting to run — it lasted just 10 minutes.
"They won't all be as easy, but I hope they all go this smoothly," Gatt said.
The council approved one action item during the meeting: to establish a special assessment district for a water main to serve a portion of the Echo Valley Estates subdivision.
Gatt also had the duty of appointing and nominating council members to committees. He appointed Staudt as mayor pro-tem and other members as follows:
- Public Access Promotion Committee: Staudt
- SEMCOG (Southeast Michigan Council of Governments): Justin Fischer, Casey (alternate)
- Pathway and Sidewalk Prioritization Committee: Andrew Mutch, Staudt
- Capital Improvement Program: Fischer, Casey, Wrobel
- Consultant Review Committee: Wrobel, Casey, Staudt
- Ordinance Review Committe: Gatt, Terry Margolis, Mutch, Fischer (alternate)
- Rules Committee: Gatt, Staudt, Margolis
