Police Seek Donations for 'Shop with a Hero' Christmas Event
The Lake Orion Police Department is partnering with Meijer and soldiers from the 1775th Military Police Company in Pontiac to take 100 area children Christmas shopping.
In order to meet its goal of making sure no child in the Orion area is without the miracle and magic of Christmas morning, the Lake Orion Police Department is launching its annual "Shop with a Hero" Christmas event to be held at the Oxford Meijer Store in December.
The men and women of the Lake Orion Police Department will be joined by the soldiers of the 1775th Military Police Company in Pontiac to take 100 area children Christmas shopping this season.
In addition, the Oxford Meijer store will be providing a complete Christmas dinner to each family represented.

In a time when Michigan's economy is strained and unemployment rates are still high, Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh said it is more important than ever to make sure families who are struggling to provide even the basic needs for their children still get to enjoy a Christmas morning filled with joy.
"The economic storm in Michigan has impacted almost every family in one way or another," Narsh said. "The ability as a community to come together and relieve some of that pressure for those hardest hit while also providing an opportunity for children to spend time with real American Heroes is what makes this program so unique."
