5 Things to Know This Week

Here's what's happening this week in Oakland Township.

Rain? Rain. No, it's not a two-word story – it's our forecast. There's a chance of rain or thunderstorms nearly every day this week, and high temperatures will continue to hover in the upper 70s and lower 80s. It might not be a bad idea to toss an umbrella in the car, if you haven't already. And don't forget – Tuesday is the first official day of summer!

Two meetings this week. The Oakland Township Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at ; an agenda was not yet available Sunday evening. The Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission will meet Wednesday in the building. On the agenda is a resolution for the Parks and Recreation Commission to shift the Cranberry Lake Farm Historic District to the Historic District Commission. New library hours and used book sale: The , which just hosted a this weekend, will host a youth used book sale from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Tuesday in the lobby. Also, the library will be closed Sundays through the end of summer. The library's summer hours are from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Taste of the Caribbean at Bear Creek: As part of the township's Music in the Meadows series, the Gratitude Steel Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at in Oakland Township. The event is family-friendly and open to all Oakland Township residents.
