Adams High School Students Assemble to Celebrate Charity Week

Friday's pep assembly included tug-of-war, volleyball, pink hair, shaved heads and lots of school spirit.

Adams High School students assembled in the school's gymnasium Friday morning to celebrate the end of Charity Week, during which they raised more than $3000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The pep rally included a students-vs-teachers volleyball game (the teachers won), performances by the cheer and dance teams, a Journey song performed by the choir, tug-of-war between all four grade levels and a team of teachers (the seniors won), a robotics team demonstration and awards for most spirited department (the Foreign Language Department) and grade (seniors).

To top it all off, four teachers – two female and two male – volunteered their hair to help raise money. Students chose one of the male teachers to shave his head and one of the female teachers to dye her hair pink; the teachers' new 'dos were unveiled at the end of the rally (and yes, we got it on video).

"The best part about spirit week is seeing the whole school be so motivated," said Maddie Bagwell, who plays the role of the Highlanders mascot. "To see the whole school come together as a whole and really be involved, that's the best part of Charity Week."
