Charlotte's Wings Seeks Groups to Lead Fall Service Projects

The Rochester-based charitable organization , which provides books to children in hospital and hospice care in Michigan, is looking for local groups to adopt the organization for fall service projects.

"The donations we get from the community are so vital in allowing a much-needed continuous stream of books to go to our partner hospitals and hospices throughout Michigan," Charlotte's Wings Chairperson Jennifer Buck said in a recent press release.

"We are very reliant on local scout, school, church and other youth groups to help us fulfill this obligation, and this is a key time of the year for decisions on service projects. We urge anyone involved with any kind of service group to contact us to discuss how we can make this an easy and rewarding project for both the adults and kids involved."

Charlotte’s Wings is a non-profit organization founded in March 2008 in memory of a local infant girl, Charlotte, who died of a rare degenerative brain disease when she was 5 months old. In lieu of baptism gifts, her parents made a large donation of books to the pediatric unit at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and Charlotte's Wings was founded.

To date, Charlotte's Wings has donated almost 11,000 books to local hospitals and hospices. Through this endeavor, the organization aims to provide hope and smiles during difficult times.
