FEMA Recognizes Sergeant Steven Schneider as Silver Level Indirect Authorized Trainer

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently recognized Oakland County Sheriff's Office Detective Sergeant Steven Schneider as a Silver Level Indirect Authorized Trainer for his proficiency in providing indirect training of Center for Domestic Preparedness courses.

Schneider, a 15-year veteran of the sheriff's office assigned to the Detective Bureau of the Rochester Hills substation, received the award in recognition of his dedication to national emergency preparedness. To receive this distinction, Schneider successfully completed an intense Train-the-Trainer course, then returned home to train state and local responders.

"We are extremely proud to have Sergeant Schneider on our team," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard in a press release from the sheriff's office. "His dedication to his profession as well as to training others in community emergency response is commendable.”

Schneider is also a member of the Oakland County Incident Management Team, has completed Type IV Incident Management Team Training and has completed federal training in all areas of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives training.

Schneider is also experienced in several areas of emergency preparedness, including Weapons of Mass Destruction, Community Anti-Terrorism Training, Investigations, Corrections
Management, Inmate Custody and Care, Road Patrol and General Administration.

Schneider is married with three children and has served as the Rochester Hills Community Emergency Response Team Coordinator for the past five years.
