Silver Bell Road Bridge Near GM Plant to Re-Open This Week

On Thursday, the Road Commission for Oakland County will officially open the new $4 million Silver Bell Road bridge over the Grand Trunk Western Railroad tracks adjacent to the GM Orion Assembly plant.

The bridge has been closed since Feb. 9, 2010, when the old bridge was shut down due to safety concerns and subsequently torn down and rebuilt.

This section of Silver Bell Road serves as the main truck access route for the GM plant (which will resume production shortly) and is a main east/west corridor for Orion Township and northeastern Oakland County.
