Clean Scene Volunteers Tidy Up Township Roads

Nearly 100 volunteers helped pick up trash along Oakland Township's roads on Saturday.

Oakland Township's 42nd Annual Clean & Green Scene drew nearly 100 volunteers to Township Hall Saturday to help clean up the township's roads.

Volunteers signed up for a road to clear, received orange plastic bags in which to collect the trash and then went out to clear the garbage that has accumulated along the township's roads in the past year.

The trash bags were taken back to Township Hall, where a Waste Management trash compactor disposed of the bags.

"It's just nice to give back to the community," said Sean Keast, 17, of Oakland Township. "It's just gross how much people must throw out their car window."
