Kids & Kops Receives Donation from Lake Orion Police Association

The program is run by the Lake Orion Police Department in partnership with the Orion/Oxford Boys & Girls Club.

The Lake Orion Police Association recently donated $1,000 to the Orion/Oxford Boys & Girls Club for use in the Kids & Kops Program, which is run by the Lake Orion Police Department in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club.

"There is no safer, better way to spend a Friday after school than in the Kids & Kops events," Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh said in a recent press release. Through the program, area kids can interact with off-duty Lake Orion police officers on Friday evenings all through the winter months.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships with police officers and our youth and to establish the trust factors so important to maintaining dialog with kids, all while having a lot of fun," Narsh said. "This is money and time well spent."

The donation will provide four annual tuition scholarships to the Boys & Girls Club, and the remainder of the funds will be used to fund the Lake Orion Police Kids & Kops youth programs at the Club.

Anyone can visit the Club to check out the Kids & Kops program. There is no cost to participate, no membership needed, and kids 6-18 years old can participate.
