Moceri Plans Senior Living Community in Oakland Township
The Planning Commission voted Tuesday to study rezoning at Adams and Dutton roads, where Moceri hopes to build Blossom Ridge senior living community.

Members of the Oakland Township Planning Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to accept for study the rezoning of the northwest corner of Adams and Dutton roads in Oakland Township.
Before the commission voted, representatives from the Moceri building company presented plans for Blossom Ridge, a community designed for active senior citizens that would be built on the site.
“The ability to age on site is very important," said Don Westphal, a representative for Moceri. "There is a period of time between 65 and 85 where people are very independent.”

“They don’t have to go to unfamiliar surroundings as they age," said Dominic Moceri, who also attended the meeting. “As they age in place, they have the same neighbors and friends.”
The purpose of Blossom Ridge is "to offer the potential for a variety of residential options for a variety of age and income levels," said Westphal. "In addition, these areas are intended to serve as receptors for senior living environments and care services.”

The Continuing Care Senior Residential Community would include 284 units in three different styles and sizes; most would be independent living facilities, though some would be assisted living facilities.
The community would also have recreation facilities, a pool and jacuzzi, community garden plots, a walking path with exercise stations, a community center, community-wide shuttle services and visiting physician services, among other amenities.
A public hearing on the proposed project will likely be held during the Aug. 2 Planning Commission meeting.
