Patch Readers Tell Moms: 'Happy Mother's Day!'

Dear Moms everywhere,

You picked us up when we were down – sometimes literally.

You put bandages on our scraped knees and made everything better with a kiss. You made us clean up our plate and choke down those peas "because they're good for you."

You taught us how to ride a bike, and then you scolded us for not wearing a helmet.

You drove us to school, church, soccer practice, piano lessons, marching band rehearsals and to our friends' houses.

You patched the hole in our favorite pair of jeans. You let us have slumber parties, even though you knew nobody would sleep (including you). You got up ridiculously early Easter morning to make sure the eggs were hidden; you played Santa's helper behind the scenes.

You gave us advice – sometimes solicited, sometimes not – about dating, school, work and friends. You were always right, though we may not always admit it.

You did all this and so much more without asking for anything in return. So this Mother's Day, Patch salutes you. We salute your hard work, your commitment, your selflessness and your compassion.
