Police Blotter: Deputy Shoots Injured Deer, Thieves Take Copper from Barn

Here's a review of the past week's police news from the Sheriff's Office Substation in Oakland Township.

An officer used his department-issued firearm to put down an injured deer on the 1500 block of East Snell Road Thursday morning. According to an Oakland County Sheriff's report, the resident called to report an injured deer on his property; the deer's back legs appeared to be broken.

Copper taken from barn

A resident on Stoney Creek Road recently reported that someone had broken into his barn between March 31 and April 12 and had stolen copper wire and pipes as well as a generator. According to police reports, there were no signs of forced entry; there are no suspects at this time.

Identity stolen to file fraudulent tax return

An Oakland Township woman recently tried to file her taxes only to discover that someone had already used her information to file a fraudulent tax return, according to a police report. The resident was told to file a police report to send to the IRS.

The resident also recently filed a police report for fraudulent credit card use.

Identity stolen to open Comcast Account

An Oakland Township man discovered on Sunday that someone had been using his credit to open fraudulent accounts with Comcast. According to a police report, the man discovered his identity had been stolen after being denied a line of credit for his business. He called Experian and was informed of two overdue fraudulent accounts with Comcast in his name.
