Police Blotter: Officer Shoots Deer Stuck on Fence, 10 Mailboxes Vandalized
Here's a review of the past week's police news from the Sheriff's Office Substation in Oakland Township.

Vandals took "some type of object, possibly a bat" to nine mailboxes in the Twin Lakes Subdivision in the early morning hours of March 18, according to police reports. A representative from the subdivision told police each mailbox will cost an estimated $400 to $500 to repair. There are no leads at this time.
Another mailbox on West Snell Road was repeatedly vandalized between March 13 and 19. Someone "knocked the box over, punched holes in it repeatedly and dumped dirt on top of it," read the police report. There are also no leads at this time.
Officer shoots deer impaled on a fence
On Monday, an Oakland Township sheriff's deputy received a call about an injured deer that was "stuck on a fence," and when the deputy arrived, he found the deer with its right leg impaled on a fence that borders the resident's property.

The deputy "put the injured deer down by discharging (his) department-issued firearm," and the homeowner removed the deer from the fence.
Thief climbs in second-story window, steals items from home
Deputies believe a thief entered a home on Pear Tree Lane on March 18 through an unlocked second-story window, then took several items from the home.

"Several kitchen cabinets were opened as well as several drawers throughout the home," read the police report. Fresh size-11 footprints were found around the entire exterior of the home.
The owner of the home discovered that someone had been inside when he arrived home that evening and noticed the interior entry door to his house was open.
The thief took silverware, a passport, quarters and a candy bowl from the home. There are no leads at this time.
