Slide Show: Gratitude Steel Band Brings Bahamas to Bear Creek

The concert is part of the township's Music in the Meadows series.

Despite the chilly weather and overcast skies, the Michigan-based Gratitude Steel Band still managed to cultivate an upbeat island atmosphere at Friday evening.

Using steel drums, percussion and an electric guitar, the band entertained Oakland Township residents young and old by playing everything from Beethoven and Pachelbel's Canon in D to "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid.

Throughout the concert, the band also encouraged audience participation, coaxing several brave members of the audience – including children – into making their way up front to hula hoop, limbo and dance the Cha Cha Slide.
