Viewfinder: You've Got Mailboxes
Just for fun, we decided to cruise a few Oakland Township neighborhoods for zany, interesting or simply unique mailboxes.
After so many mailboxes were earlier this year, it only seems fitting that we celebrate some of the most interesting and unique mailboxes in the township.
So we cruised a few Oakland Township neighborhoods and ran across several interesting boxes. We found mailboxes shaped like a school bus, a barn, a sheep and a house. A few were ornately painted, and a few had been modified to double as plant holders.
We even found an extended family of mailboxes, all mounted together in a very long row.

"I end up setting the mailers on top," she said.

Perry, a Shelby Township resident who has delivered mail along the same route for 32 years, said she finds it amusing how some residents can have beautiful homes and yards but then neglect their mailboxes.
"There are some that have been here for 32 years," she said, chuckling.
