Canton Center Road Closes Monday

A reconstruction project will close Canton Center from Michigan Avenue to Geddes Road. Find out for how long.

CANTON, MI — The condition of Canton’s roads is one of the larger issues currently facing the township. Starting Monday, at least one road will be getting some badly needed attention. Canton Center will be reconstructed from Michigan Avenue north to Geddes road.

Wayne County will handle the $1.2 project, which is expected to be completed sometime in November, Canton officials indicated in a Facebook post. Canton Center will be completely shut down during the project, but access to businesses will remain open.

"I would say this is one of the worst roads in the township," Canton Township Engineer Bill Serchak said. "It has finally moved its way to the top of the (Wayne County repair) list."
