Canton Man Among Those Killed in Afghan Plane Crash

A Canton man was among seven people killed in a cargo plane crash in Afghanistan on Monday, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

Rinku Summan, a first officer on the plane, and six other civilians died after their Boeing 747-400 crashed just after takeoff from Bagram Air Base, according to CNN.

Six of the seven people who died in the crash were from Michigan. The plane’s company, National Airlines, had been based in Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti before moving to Orlando.

NATO has denied claims by the Taliban that it had shot down the plane, according to CNN.
