Canton Man Charged After Stabbing 3 Family Members: Prosecutor
The victims remain in serious, but stable condition, prosecutors said.
CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A Canton man is facing charges after stabbing three family members Tuesday, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors said 23-year-old Derek Attee Alesmaily used a knife to stab his 42-year-old mother, 21-year-old brother, both of Canton, and his 22-year-old sister, of Dearborn inside a Canton home in the 3700 block of Parklawn Drive at 3:39 p.m.
Alesmaily was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and three counts of felonious assault. He was placed in jail with a $3 million bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 24.

If convicted, he faces up to life in prison for the assault with intent to murder charge, 10 years for the assault with intent to do great bodily harm and four years for felonious assault.
When officers arrived at the home, they found two of the victims in the driveway of the home and one victim in the roadway in front of the home, all suffering from multiple stab wounds, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said they were all taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. They remain in serious, but stable condition, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Alesmaily fled from the home, but was quickly arrested by officers.
"It is ironic that this happened during Domestic Violence Awareness Month," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "This family has experienced a horrific tragedy. We will prosecute this offender and bring the victims the justice that they deserve."
