Submitted by Kevin Sun East Middle School chess teams competed in the Michigan Scholastic Team Chess Championship in February at Michigan State University. More than 800 students from across the state competed in the tournament. East teams won second place in the K-9 Championship Section on Feb. 23, and sixth place in K-6 Championship Section on Feb. 2.  Congrats to K-9 championship team winners: Sriram Motheram, Anna Sun, Tony Zhao and Laurence Yang and to K-6 championship team winners: Anna Sun, Laurence Yang, Julia Shen and Nathan Yung.
