Ford Road Down To One WB Lane On Saturday
DTE will be removing a gas line. Find out how long traffic is likely to be snarled.

CANTON, MI — The highly congested Ford Road and Haggerty area is going to be even a little more jammed than usual this Saturday. Westbound Ford Road will have only one lane open from I-275 to just west of Haggerty Road from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The reason? DTE Energy is removing a gas line. With retail giant IKEA at the corner of Ford and Haggerty and other nearby retail and restaurants, the intersection is one of the state’s most traveled and most accident-prone.
The southbound I-275 ramp to westbound Ford Road will also only have one lane open. MDOT advises to avoid the area if possible.

Unfortunately, it won’t be the end of traffic misery in the area. On Nov. 3 starting at 9 a.m., westbound Ford Road will be completely closed from I-275 to just west of Haggerty Road as crews work to cure concrete after removal of the gas line.

The road will remain closed all weekend. Westbound Ford Road will not reopen until Monday, Nov. 6 at 5 a.m., MDOT says.
