  • The students and staff at Bird Elementary recently joined the school's FFO to honor P-CCS bus drivers for the work that they do every day that usually goes unnoticed.

    • The Bird family honored each of the six Durham Transportation Drivers who serve the school with a small ceremony on their buses. The drivers received Bird personalized mugs filled with $125 in gift cards, along with well deserved applause and love from faculty, staff, parents, and students as thanks for their commitment to the district and school community.

  • All of P-CCS continue to appreciate how drivers work to get students to school to learn each day, safely and on time!

  • If you would like to serve students in this vital way and become part of the P-CCS family, visit the Durham School Services hiring link, located on the official P-CCS website, to apply.

  • Starkweather Academy Art Teacher Debra Cohn recently put together a virtual field trip for students to attend the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). The field trip, called “Shaping Identity”, allowed students to look at a diverse set of artwork using visual thinking strategies and allowed students to use the power of visual art to communicate ideas about inclusion, representation, diversity, social justice, and truth.

    • The DIA is offering free programs to schools from Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties thanks to the generosity of the Ford Motor Company Fund.

  • We want to thank Ms. Cohn and her students for finding creative and innovative ways to have exceptional learning experiences at Starkweather Academy.

  • Shout-out to the P-CCS Curriculum Team for an outstanding day of professional learning for our teachers!

    • There were 99 professional learning choices for staff to participate in. Many teachers reported that the sessions were informative, practical, and engaging. A lot of this work will be implemented into our classrooms for our students immediately.

    • Thank you to all of our amazing educators who planned and participated in this event!

  • As a reminder, communications regarding parent-teacher conferences will start going out very soon.

    • These conferences are just another way for you to stay directly in touch with the learning that your students are doing in class every single day.

    • Keep in touch with communications coming from your school building(s) or program(s) to make sure that you get your parent-teacher conference scheduled soon.
