Pedestrian Killed in Canton Township

A man was struck and killed Saturday night while he crossed Michigan Avenue in Canton Township, according to an article in the Detroit Free Press.
The 41-year-old Wayne resident, whose name was not released, died despite efforts of police officers and a registered nurse who administered CPR in an effort to save him, the article said.
The man was crossing westbound Michigan Avenue west of Hannan Road at 11:15 p.m. Saturdy when he was hit by a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 28-year-old woman from Westland, the Free Press reported.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Jeep Cherokee was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia as a precaution, according to the article.
Canton police said it appears alcohol may be a factor in the crash, but no further details were released today, the article said. The Canton Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
