Plymouth Township Psychologist Guilty Of Felony
Melissa Ann Sharnowski, 39, will be sentenced in Wayne County Circuit Court on May 3.
PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI — A Plymouth Township psychologist is facing sentencing May 3 after she recently pleaded guilty to one felony charge of attempting to work in an unauthorized practice. Melissa Ann Sharnowski, 39, will be sentenced by Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Gregory Bill. She is an employee at Inspired by Me Psychological Wellness Center, according to a report in the Plymouth Observer.
An administrative complaint also was issued Dec. 21 against Sharnowski by the Michigan Attorney General's office on behalf of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. LARA spokesman Michael Loepp explained the charge to the newspaper on Friday.
"It was based in part on charges that she practiced psychology with an expired doctoral education limited license in psychology, submitted bills to insurance companies for treatment sessions she did not provide and submitted bills for treatment under a different psychologist's billing identification number," Loepp wrote by email to the Plymouth Observer.
