'Water Safety' Cards Not From Canton Township

Canton residents have recently received "Water Safety Notification" cards in the mail, but they're not from the township.

CANTON, MI — Official-looking “Water Safety Notification” cards have been circulating in Canton recently warning residents of “major health issues” associated with oxidation and acidification in tap water. According to township officials, the cards are merely an attempt to sell a water ionizer system for thousands of dollars, according to a Canton Observer report.

"It looks official, but it's got nothing to do with Canton Township," Supervisor Pat Williams said.
"The water is perfectly fine for drinking. It meets all federal and state guidelines," Canton Public Works Manager Bob Belair said, adding that the water notices could be seen as "using fear as a sales tactic."
