Two People Shot Accidentally In Rochester

Two people in a Rochester apartment were accidentally shot by a neighbor, who was cleaning his gun.

ROCHESTER, MI — A 25-year-old Rochester man is facing charges after he accidentally shot two people recently at an apartment in the 500 Block of Great Oak Boulevard. Jequa Halliburton was charged with careless discharge of a firearm causing injury. Police reports stated that he was cleaning his gun when he dropped and it discharged, striking two people in adjacent apartment.

A caller told officers that two of her friends had been shot from a single round that had come through the wall from the neighboring apartment. The caller said the neighbor was on scene and had reported to them that he was cleaning his gun and it accidentally went off when he dropped it. A Rochester Hills woman, 27, was shot in the left leg just above the knee and a Mount Clemens woman, 26, was shot in the left arm just below the bicep.
After being treated by the Rochester City and Rochester Hills Fire Departments, the Rochester Hills woman was taken in stable condition to Royal Oak Beaumont. She has since been released from the hospital.
