$1 Million Ticket Sold in Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK, MI — An Oakland County won a $1 million progressive jackpot playing the Michigan Lottery’s Jackpot Slots Fast Cash game on Sunday. The 26-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at a Royal Oak BP gas station, located at 30875 Woodward Avenue.

It’s the largest Fast Cash progressive jackpot ever won. He actually predicted to his father he was going to win the game when it got $1 million.

“When I got to work I checked my $5 Fast Cash tickets first and saw someone had hit the jackpot,” the Oakland County man said. “I was bummed because I had checked the jackpot right before I bought my tickets and couldn’t believe someone won it. When I checked my Jackpot Slots tickets and saw I was the jackpot winner I was stunned.”

The player immediately called his dad to tell him the good news. “When I answered the phone, I could tell by his voice something was off,” said the player’s dad. “I said: ‘You won the jackpot, didn’t you?’ I was so happy for him when he told me he was the winner.”

“I was in the parking lot at work and thought about calling in, but I decided to go in to work. It was pretty hard to walk in there knowing I’d just won $1 million,” said the player, who works at a local restaurant. “I asked my dad to come pick up the ticket so I didn’t have to carry it around or leave it in my car.”

He picked up his prize in Lansing on Tuesday. With his winnings, the 26-year-old plans to buy a house, take a trip, and then invest the remainder.

“I still can’t believe it’s real. Winning this much money makes me feel so much more comfortable and secure,” he said.
