5 'One Act' Sketches to See at Arts, Beats & Eats

Local students write, direct and perform One Act Plays throughout the day on Saturday at the festival in downtown Royal Oak

The Royal Oak High School Drama Club will be performing five One Act plays in between musical acts at the BD’s Mongolian Grill Stage located on Washington between Lincoln and 6th (Jimi’s Parking Lot) on Saturday. Show times are  at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

All of the One Act Plays are student directed and students actually wrote three of the plays. Arts, Beats & Eats has been a strong supporter of the Royal Oak High School Drama Club during the year and invited them to perform between acts during the production of “Stage Door” earlier this year.

The students will take their experience gained during their “One Act Festival” in April and bring it to the Arts, Beats & Eats audience.

“We are really excited to finally get to perform outdoors,” said RO Drama Club Office Max Sanders. “The One Act Festival was rained out and moved indoors. It was meant to be an outdoor festival so this will give us a chance to perform it the way it was planned!”

The ROHS Drama Club will be performing “Guys and Dolls” Nov. 15, 16 and 17 as their fall musical later this year.

Arts, Beats & Eats Performances include:

"I Didn't Meme To" - a student written play bringing some of your favorite (and most annoying) Internet Memes to life, featuring Hannah Wielgat, Calvin Brown, Kristina Samborski, Kara Barberi, Matt Harmon and Max Sanders. Show time is 1 p.m.

"Open to Interpretation" - a variety of takes on the classic "Hansel & Gretel" featuring Hannah Wielgat and Calvin Brown. Show times are 2:30 pm. and 7:30 p.m.

"Donut Robbery" - starring ROHS Students Max Sanders, Paige Bradley, Abby Walsh, Kristina Samborski and Hannah Weilgat. Show time is 4 p.m.

"New Girl" - featuring Kristina Samborski, Mike Miller, Aidan Walsh, Matt Harmon, Max Sanders and Ariana Quesada. Show time is 5:30 p.m.
