5 Things to Do in Royal Oak Saturday

From the Dream Expo to the Guns & Hoses charity hockey game - there's a lot going on this weekend in Royal Oak!

There's a lot going on in Royal Oak on Saturday. What do you have planned?

1. Dream Home Expo

The event is designed to help Royal Oak residents obtain information about adding to or remodeling their homes. Architects, builders, home improvement/remodeling firms, landscaping companies, and the City Building Department will be on hand to assist Royal Oak homeowners and answer questions about adding to or remodeling their homes, home improvement projects, and legal requirements of the city. Runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Royal Oak Middle School. Admission and parking are free.

2. Rabies Vaccination Clinic

The Royal Oak Animal Shelter will be hosting the annual Rabies Vaccination Clinic at the Department of Public Services, 1600 N. Campbell, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring in your dog or cat for a rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian for only $5.00.

3. Founding Families Exhibit Opening

Photographs and information about 80 founding Royal Oak families will be on display at the Royal Oak Historical Society Museum’s grand ppening of the Founding Families Exhibit from 1 to 6 p.m.

4. 2nd Bestest Concert Ever

This family friendly community event will take place at the Royal Oak Farmers Market from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The beneficiary this year will be the Royal Oak High School Band and Orchestra Instrument Fund. Activities include:  McCourts Musical Petting Zoo, Golfing with the Royal Oak Golf Center, Wax Hands with Creative Arts Studio and Rockin’ Red Carpet Photos by John Carlson in front of the Candy Band Official Race Car. And, just added, Dreamworks is bringing "Belt" in from the new movie "The Croods" coming out this weekend to be on the red carpet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and kids 3 and under are free!

5. Guns & Hoses Charity Hockey Game

Every March, the hockey teams of the Royal Oak Police Department and the Royal Oak Fire Department square off in the annual Royal Oak 'Guns & Hoses' Charity Hockey Game. All proceeds from this event go to support a charitable cause in the Metro Detroit area. Game time is 7 p.m. at Lindell Ice Arena. Tickets are $10.
