Bob Seger Pays Homage To Longtime Friend Glenn Frey In Heartfelt New Song

Bob Seger released "Glenn Song" on Jan. 18, the one-year anniversary of Frey's death. Seger and Frey were friends for nearly 50 years.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Legendary Detroit rocker Bob Seger has penned a moving new song in honor of his late friend, fellow Detroit music icon and Royal Oak native Glenn Frey, co-founder of The Eagles, who died last year.

The heartfelt ballad is titled "Glenn Song" and was released on the one-year anniversary of Frey's death at age 67. The song is available to listen and download for free on Seger's site.

In "Glenn Song," Seger's timeless and touching songwriting lyrics are on display, and he sings on the track "When I think about you I always smile. Then I go back for a while."

Seger and Frey first linked up as young Detroit musicians in 1966. Frey even sang background vocals on Seger's first major hit, "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man." Their storied friendship spanned nearly 50 years.

“Glenn Song” is Seger’s first new song since the release of his 17th album, "Ride Out" in Oct. 2014.
