Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken Opens In Royal Oak
Memphis-Style Chicken Chain Adds Third Metro Detroit Outlet.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken opened its new Royal Oak restaurant late last week. The 2,000-square foot location at 31105 Woodward Ave. is the chain’s third area outlet. The others are in Detroit midtown and Westland.
Schmaltz Hospitality LLC, owns these locations as a franchisee, and put $350,000 into converting the Woodward Ave location from a Starbucks into a new chicken restaurant. Gus’s in Royal Oak employs 30 and has a dining room capacity of 46. Wendy McCrory, president of Gus's Franchisor LLC, told Crain's Detroit Business that Gus is “hot” on Detroit.
"Detroit is obviously a very exciting market for us. It's been high on our radar because it seems like a really good fit; it's been a really big focus of our brand,” McCrory said.
