iPhones Stolen At YMCA, LA Fitness

Royal Oak Police reported that the phones were stolen in separate incidents. It's unknown if they're related.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A pair of patrons at separate Royal Oak fitness facilities had items stolen as they worked out, according to police reports. iPhones were targeted in both incidents.

The first occurred at the YMCA at 1016 W. Eleven Mile Road on Oct. 21. The victim told police her iPhone had been stolen from her unlocked locker between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Reports said $20 in cash was also taken from the locker.

On Oct. 25, an iPhone was taken from a patron of LA Fitness at 25352 Woodward Avenue. The victim told police the phone was in his clothing in the locker room when it was stolen between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., reports said.

  • 30369 Woodward Ave. (Katherines Pet Parlor), 10-23-17, 4:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked 2013 Volkswagen and stole a backpack containing identification and an unknown amount of cash.

Larceny

  • 500 block of S. Main St., 10-21-17, 1:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) stole a backpack containing personal identification and credit cards from a parking lot.
  • 400 block of E. 11 Mile, 10-19-17 – 10-20-17, 12:30 p.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked 2011 Chevrolet and stole a laptop computer and an external hard drive.
  • 32000 block of Woodward Ave., 10-23-17, 8:40 a.m. – 1:20 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) stole the Michigan license plate from his 2016 Chevrolet.

Malicious Destruction of Property

  • 814 N. Campbell Rd. (Shepherd Church), 10-20-17 – 10-21-17, 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) painted graffiti on the rear wall.
  • W. Second St. & S. Center St., 10-20-17 – 10-21-17, 4:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) smashed the passenger window of his parked 2008 Toyota.
