Police Investigating Oakland County Road Rage Shooting

A driver told investigators that a man driving a white Infiniti SUV fired two shots at their vehicle​, according to police.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Police are investigating an Oakland County road rage shooting that happened last weekend.

The incident happened at 5:20 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 696 near Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak, according to police.

A driver told investigators that a man driving a white Infiniti SUV fired two shots at their vehicle, according to police.

The victim told investigators the shooter opened fire from the center lane to the left lane while driving westbound on the freeway, according to police.

Investigators said the caller's vehicle was not struck and police did not report any injuries.

Investigators shut down the freeway and did not immediately find any evidence of the shooting.

"There is never a reason to settle a dispute with a firearm," Michigan State First Lt. Mike Shaw said. "Especially over something as simple as a driving error. If you find yourself involved in a situation with someone who is out of control while driving, just create some distance and call 911."
