Lane Closures Create Headaches For Drivers

Eastbound I-696 between M-1 & Hilton Road, right lane closed, Monday- Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

METRO DETROIT, MI — If your weekend travel plans include using I-75, you’ll have to find a different option to get on the freeway than I-696 on Saturday. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the ramps heading both directions will be shut down from 7 a.m. until approximately noon.

With winter officially in the rearview mirror, it’s now construction season in southeast Michigan. That distinct shade of orange is popping up like spring flowers all over area freeways. Here’s a list of MDOT projects for March 24-27:

Oakland County

  • Eastbound I-696 between M-1 & Hilton Road, right lane closed, Monday- Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Northbound I-75 between Wattles Road and Crooks Road, the two left lanes are closed on Saturday from 7 am.-7 p.m.
  • Northbound/Southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) between 12 Mile Road and Civic Center, nightly lane closures, Thursday 9 p.m. -Saturday 5 a.m.

As a reminder, MDOT has closed southbound I-75 southbound in Detroit from Springwells to Northline Road.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound M-59 is under construction from M-53 to Garfield Road.
