Royal Oak Optimists Support ROMS Anti-Bullying Initiatives with $3K Check
A $3,000 donation to Royal Oak Middle School is earmarked for bullying prevention programs.

Members of the Royal Oak Optimist Club presented a check for $3,000 at Thursday's regular Board of Education meeting to help subsidize anti-bullying programs at Royal Oak Middle School.
"We feel anti-bullying programs are integral with our mission to bring out the best in kids by providing hope and a positive vision," said Optimist Club President Jay Dunstan.
The service club raised the money through various fundraisers throughout the year, including its annual Bowlabration event and a recent Trivia Night.
"We are extremely grateful to the Optimist Club for their generosity," said Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin. "The support of our community is critical to the success of our students."
This gift will be used to purchase materials to support Royal Oak Middle School's implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, and to assist the school in bringing The Bullycide Project presentations to the school.
The Olweus program is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop.
The Bullycide Project is dedicated to creating a change of consciousness on issues of humanity, integrity, tolerance, and trust.
