Cummins replaces Chuck Thomas, who retired as chief last June.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Royal Oak promoted one of its own in naming David Cummins its new fire chief Wednesday. A 25-year veteran of the department, Cummins previously served as a lieutenant.
“It’s an incredible honor to lead what I consider to be one of the best departments in Oakland County,” Cummins said. “Fire service is in my blood.”
