Royal Oak Schools Cancels Classes, Activities Amid Storm
With up to eleven inches of snow expected, Royal Oak Schools announced Friday's closing Thursday evening.

With a winter storm on the way and meteorologists predicting snowfall of 9 to 11 inches across the area, nearly every school in Metro Detroit and still more in Washtenaw and Macomb counties announced Thursday that Friday classes would be canceled. By midnight, Click on Detroit’s school closings page listed over 700 area schools that had announced weather-related closures for Friday. With so much snow predicted for the morning, Royal Oak Schools joined this large group of schools and announced the cancellation of its Friday classes.
According to the schools' website, "On Friday, February 9, all schools in the Royal Oak School district are closed due to inclement weather. This includes all evening school events. All Adult Education courses at Churchill are also cancelled.”
