Tire Thefts Continue In Royal Oak Despite Bust

A pair of tire thieves caught in August are waiting to be sentenced, but a new theft has been reported in Royal Oak.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Despite the late August apprehension of a pair of Detroit men in connection with the theft of wheels and tires in Royal Oak, the community still appears to be experiencing the problem. Deshawn Shelton Gardner and Jeffrey Lamont Miller are awaiting sentencing for stealing wheels and tires in the 500 block of S. Wilson and 1900 block of Brockton of Royal Oak, according to a police report.

Gardner and Miller were arrested by Royal Oak Police following an ongoing investigation by a task force with the Michigan State Police. According to Oakland County Circuit Court records, Gardener is set to be sentenced as habitual offender on Dec. 7 in front of Judge D. Langford Morris. Miller will also be sentenced as a habitual offender on Nov. 2 in front of Morris.

As for the latest incident, a Royal Oak resident in the 900 block of McLean Avenue reported that and unknown suspect(s) stole all four four rims and tires from his 2016 Chrysler. The incident happened in the early morning hours of Oct. 17, according to police reports.

Larceny

  • 2000 block of N. Wilson Ave., 10-13-17 – 10-14-17, 10:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) stole two (2) children’s car seats from the porch of the residence.
  • 2725 Nakota Rd. (Great Lakes Construction), 10-13-17, 2:38 p.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) entered the business after hours and stole a MacBook Pro laptop computer.
  • 1223 S. Washington Ave. (Gammons Medical), 10-16-17, 10:15 a.m. – 10:25 a.m.: Complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) stole a pair of Gucci sunglasses from a common area of the office.
